We, self shackled warriors weep,

Jung stated "The alchemists, who in their own way knew more about the nature of the individuation process than we moderns do, expressed this paradox through the symbol of the Ouroboros, the snake that eats its own tail. The Ouroboros has been said to have a meaning of infinity or wholeness. In the age-old image of the Ouroboros lies the thought of devouring oneself and turning oneself into a circulatory process, for it was clear to the more astute alchemists that the prima materia of the art was man himself. The Ouroboros is a dramatic symbol for the integration and assimilation of the opposite, i.e. of the shadow. This 'feed-back' process is at the same time a symbol of immortality, since it is said of the Ouroboros that he slays himself and brings himself to life, fertilizes himself and gives birth to himself. 2012 - another interesting perspective...and encouragement to do "the work"

Many people are considering that 2012 is the "end of civilization" or some justification for a long believed "apocalyptic" ending of our world.

I encountered a book online that has some different views called "The Collapsing Tower: Birth Pangs of Post Ego Civilization" by Robert Lorenz, PhD. who is a professor at UCLA Graduate School of Professional Psychology.

Here's an excerpt from one of his newsletters:

Psycho-Spiritual Consequences of Solar Maximum

In a channeled work of Tom Kenyon called The Holon of Ascension, in discussing the breach in the magnetosphere (Internet, January 28, 2009), writes:

It (the breach) is allowing, and will allow, large volumes of the sun to enter. This will increase magnetic storms, disruption of telecommunications, disruptions in bioelectric circuitry (such as human nervous systems), and climate change. The results of this breach and the increased charging of the magnetosphere will increase over the next several years.

Our focus in this communication is not upon the negative impacts of this breach, but upon the positive effects it opens for those who are ready.

Your subtle energy body, which was known as the KA by the ancient Egyptians and called the etheric body by the Yogis, is highly sensitive to, and affected by solar plasma. An increase in the flow and quality of solar streams increases the vibratory rate of the KA body. This is a very beneficial and auspicious opportunity for those who are consciously participating in their ascension process. Let us be precise by what we mean by the term ascension, because it has many different connotations and ways of being viewed.

By ascension we simply mean a movement upward in consciousness…You begin to see through the maya, or illusion of this world, which is created through the dance of subatomic particles and into a configuration of what you call matter. Through the ascension process you realize that you are the creator of your experience of that which you call “the world”. It does not mean that you leave this world, but it does mean that you transcended it – while still being a part of it – for you see through the lens of perception that life is a movie that you are projecting.

One could say that you are at a crossroads. As the solar streams enter into your magnetosphere, the KA bodies of all humans will increase in vibration. But for some, this will lead to disturbances and dissolution, while for others it will lead to ascension – a movement upward in consciousness.

This communication is specifically for those individuals who have chosen the upward spiral. Your challenge in these times is to allow the activation of your KA body to move you upward, even as many around you seem to be spiraling downward. It is, essentially, a question of vibration, joined with expectation and belief. It is the union of these three that births the creative impulse for a new destiny.

What do we mean by this?

It takes tremendous energy to transcend or transmute a negative condition or limitation that has been placed upon one. You have been collectively hypnotized into a view of reality that is fixed, confined, limiting, and nothing short of imprisonment. When you see through the lies and the manipulations, the old world does not look the same and yet the perception of the lies does not free one from them. They have a life of their own and a tendency to continue. It takes new energy – an increased vibratory rate – to overcome the lethargy and inertia that are intrinsic to your cultural limitations. This is a gift of the solar streams – the solar plasma that is flowing and will flow in greater quantities into your magnetosphere – for they will increase the vibratory rate of your KA body.

But here is the “cross-hair, shall we say, in “the sight” of your destiny. For those of you who accept, or are at least beginning to see through the lies and manipulations that have been imposed upon you and have made a choice to move upward into the ascension process, this activation of the KA body is a beautiful, exquisite miracle to behold, for your life will be graced with the power to transcend your own limitations in ways that have not be available to you before. It shall be as if the cosmos itself is joining you in the dance of your freedom.

But for those who do not choose to live upward in consciousness – who choose to remain imprisoned by the limitations, who seek to blame others for their misfortune, who choose to find scapegoats for their lack of happiness, for those who insist on living the old world of conflict – this increased vibration of their KA body will not be a blessing; it will be experienced as a curse. Because they will have to work very hard to keep things the way they are…

From our perspective, we see this situation escalating over the next several years, and we would characterize it as a dual state in which many of you will ascend, meaning move upward, while others will move into dissolution, a falling apart. This is, essentially, based on personal choice.

This is a very important point, for us, and we wish to convey it with as much clarity as possible. Each of you has the response-ability to choose the thoughts and the creations you desire. Some of you will choose freedom – because you cannot stand being contained any longer – the lies are too great a burden to perpetuate. Others of you will choose imprisonment – for the fear of freedom and the responsibility for personal choice is too much to bear.

This is a split in the road of evolution.

As your realities simultaneously dissolve and re-create themselves, and by that we refer to the economic challenges you are facing, and the ecological and social challenges you are facing some of you may experience very difficult times. But never lose sight of the fact that you are the creator of your life, and you can re-create it at any moment, regardless of the circumstances. Those who manipulate you do so through fear and perpetuation of cultural limitations – the belief that your life is dependent upon certain external factors.

What you will discover in the ascension process is that these external factors are actually projections from your own deepest consciousness. They are flickers on a movie screen, and you can change them in mind-bending quickness when you change them from the source rather than the effect, and the source is your very mind itself.


It’s important to understand that the breach in the magnetosphere only sets the stage for the massive changes under discussion. The driving force behind them is the progressive increase in solar energy impinging on our planet as we approach solar maximum. Thus 2010 - 2012 will be a great catalyst for transcendence for those who are doing the work and a great catalyst for dissolution and insanity for those who are attempting to hold onto the old way of egoic domination.

“Doing the work” means clearing the etheric body of old emotional reaction patterns that comprise the pain-body, sub-personalities, and mechanisms of control and being right derived from your Enneagram ego-type. The methods of doing this have been discussed in prior Newsletters. Of particular significance is the method of transmutation—rather than acting on negative emotions, you can transmute them to positive Flow. This takes practice, and you must start NOW if you have not already done so. There’s no time to waste in useless pursuits and ego gratifications. You must examine the sanity of your goals. If they aren’t in line with, or are opposed to, spiritual evolvement you’re not just wasting precious time. You’re putting yourself in extreme jeopardy. This isn’t a dress rehearsal. It’s the real thing, and only you can determine whether you survive and evolve or not. The higher spiritual beings who have gone before us have placed our destiny in our own hands. It’s now incumbent upon us to choose our destinies through our own efforts.

THE ALCHEMY OF LOVE

You come to us from another world

Have we really gotten more "civilized" over the millenia?

From Riane Eisler's seminal book Chalice and the Blade - "Most of what we have learned to believe to think of as our cultural evolution has in fact been interpretation. Moreover... this interpretation has more often than not been the projection of the prevailing dominator worldview. It has consisted of conclusions drawn from fragmentary data interpreted to conform to the traditional model of our cultural evolution as a linear progression from "primitave man" to so called "civilized man," who despite their many differences, shared a common preoccupation with conquering, killing and dominating."

"Through scientific excavations of ancient sites, archaeologists have in recent years obtained a great deal of primary information about prehistory, particularly about the Neolithic, when our ancestors were first settled in communities sustained by farming and breeding of stock. Analyzed from a fresh perspective, these excavations provide the database for a re-evaluation, and reconstruction, of our past."

The Living Universe - We recognize ourselves as intensification of aliveness!

Duane Elgin, author of "The Living Universe" was just interviewed in EnlightenNext Magazine.

"Q: Why do you feel it's important for people to develop this understanding of the universe as living?"

"A: Until recently, the dominant cosmology in contemporary physics held that since the big bang nearly fourteen billion years ago, little more has happened than a rearranging of the cosmic furniture. This dead-universe theory assumes creation occured only once, when a massive explosion spewed out lifeless material into equally lifeless space. Life somehow mysteriously emerged as nonliving atoms inexplicably organized and grew themselves into ever more complex forms. In this scenario, who we are and life itself are meaningless. We're just a speck of aliveness in a vast ocean of deadness, and when we die, we just sink into oblivion."

"But now science is starting to say , 'Wait a minute. We're living in a continuously regenerating system, and there are extraordinary amounts of life just pouring through all of it.' From this perspective, we see that the whole of existence is alive, and when we die, we die into this vast ocean of aliveness. We're beginning to recognize how extraordinary we are as a species and that what really matters is the extent to which we recognize ourselves as the intensification of that aliveness. Do we exist in a reality that has no meaning, or do we see ourselves in this much larger context? It matters enormously whether we're just playing biochemical games or we're authentically connecting with the deeper aliveness that permeates the universe."

I have found it to be one of the best guides for discovering the moment to moment awareness which leads us to becoming attuned to our natural state of being - which I call "living meditation".

The whole goal of meditation is to connect us to the field of all beauty, awareness and conscious intelligence that has created you and of all the cosmos. And the goal is to discover that you are NOT ONLY connected to the creative intelligence that dreamed the cosmos, but YOU ARE the same creative intelligence that dreamed the cosmos. In exactly the same way that a seed contains the tree.

The Vijnana Bhairava Tantra was written down long ago as a manual to point spiritual aspirants to the moment by moment opportunities for us to open to vast cosmic creative intelligence that lives through us.

The text was written as a dialogue between "Lord Bhairava" (a representation of cosmic intelligence) and his Consort and reflection "Bhairavi" after she asked him his view of the nature of reality and awakening to our true nature.

My friend Lorin Roche translated this ancient knowledge into a book called "The Radiance Sutras" from which I quote the first four verses for your benefit here.

The life essence carries on its play

purifies life.

curves from out to in -
through both these turns, absorb intensity.

3. Enter these turning points
In the play of respiration and expiration,
Where the rhythms of life transform
Into each other.

Breath flows in, then surrenders to flow out again.
In this moment, drink eternity.

Breath flows out, emptying, emptying,
Offering itself to infinity.

Cherishing these moments,
Mind dissolves into heart,
Heart dissolves into space,
Body becomes a shimmering field
Pulsating between emptiness and fullness..

4. In any quiet moment when you are breathing,
the breath may flow out and pause of itself,
or flow in and pause of itself.
There experience opens into an exquisite vastness
with no beginning and no end.

Embrace that infinity without reservation.
Dive into it, drink deeply of it and emerge renewed."

Past Life Research at University of Viginia

My friend Jessica McCrea, Psy.D shared with me that one of her colleagues who does not necessarily believe in reincarnation began to regress clients to birth, and then earlier to get in touch with their essential nature.

What began to happen is that her clients began to share many accounts of distinct memories of past lives related to the issues that they were working out in their current situations.

We were discussing this with a friend over dinner and he shared that there is a body of research on the matter at University of Virginia. There is a whole department called The Division of Perceptual Studies working on many issues.

Circles of Grace - GET TOGETHER EVERYONE!

LA Yoga Magazine just published an interview with Carolyn Myss who is an expert in energy medicine, mysticism and spirituality.

She spoke of issues affecting the collective psyche of our society and how we must mend our inner state of being in order to bring about a better world around us.

She discussed the importance of community as the essential component for our journey of collective healing:


"Gather with others and share your creativity. This is what the wondrous Teresa of Avila calls creating a circle of grace with your friends. Start with three people and gather around a potluck dinner. Invite everyone to bring something, a dessert, or dinner to share. Bring in strangers and new friends, and whether you gather once a week or once every two weeks, the object is to make this gathering something to look forward to and make it a routine where you have a wonderful meal and read something inspirational that lifts consciousness, whether it’s a poem, a prayer or writing that gives hope. In 1963 he wrote in his book "Ideas and Integrities"

"The entire world's industrial resources are now preoccupied in serving only 44 per cent of humanity with the advancing standards of living exclusively provided by the world's progressively enlarging and integrating industrial networks. Making the world's totally available resources serve one hundred percent of an exploding population may only be accomplished by a boldly accelerated design evolution which adequately increases present over-all performance per units of invested resources. This is a task of radical technical innovation rather than political rationalization. It is a task that can only be accomplished by the world's architects, inventors and scientist-artists."

Making Changes that Stick

My long time friend Jessica McCrea is a wonderful therapist based in Boulder, CO.

Her latest blog entry really spoke to me:

"Making Changes the Stick

For years, I have been on a quest for the most efficient and effective way of helping clients move through whatever holds them back. I finally landed on a technique called "Brainspotting". This is a new and (I believe) vastly improved iteration of EMDR (see "What is EMDR" in my Resources to learn more).
With this user-friendly method, I get to witness my clients quickly process and release distressing experiences and patterns.
Another remarkable thing about Brainspotting is that it can help cultivate present-moment awareness and peace of mind. I see one client after another come to a deep sense of knowing. They start to move toward their life goals in a more purposeful way, becoming happier in so doing.
At a time when many are withering from the constriction that comes with the fear of insecurity, discovering the capacity for profound expansive shift is especially valuable now.
In fact, making such shifts is also a service to others. As I mentioned in "Emotional Contagion at Work", when you shine your light more brightly, when you start to express your true essence, you give others a contact high. It is also true that when you become better integrated and more present, you naturally become better able to tune in to the experience of others. Awareness enhances empathy.
It's all about developing that prefrontal cortex so that you can sustain a reflective stance, which means being able to think about your feelings and sensations as they occur. When you develop your mind in this way, you are more likely to make lasting positive changes because you recognize the truth of your full range of experience, and come to hold that truth with compassion.

This article written in 2004 is a beautiful perspective on dealing with challenging dynamics in others, and ourselves.

"We are in a time of great planetary change and these changes are playing out on many levels. A high stakes inter-dimensional battle for survival is being waged by the Dark Energies who have held sway over this planet in the dark age of the Kali Yug. We are inundated with artificially induced bio-electric conditions of depression and dread that are amplified by the media through a series of contrived ominous events designed to keep us in increasing states of fear and worry. This proliferating negativity is intensified by the anxiety that comes from the disorientation caused by the “thinning of the veils” between the various levels of reality. Many of us are experiencing increased psychic abilities as a result of these higher frequency energies, and this is making us more aware of and sensitive to the negative forces."

Also Harijiwan wrote an article on "the aquarian age" which feels relevant:

"Breathe long and deep. See within the light of the ten thousand suns, let the awareness of breath be the acknowledgment of our creative power, of our own cycle of existence, our own eternal spiritual self within the creation of the human self, and express the vast interconnection with all through the timeless way of kindness, compassion, and love.

Yogi Bhajan has given us the five Sutras of the Aquarian Age:
Recognize that the other person is you.
There is a way through every block.
When the time is on you, start, the pressure will be off.
Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times.
- Vibrate the Cosmos, Cosmos shall clear the path."

It's about....

becoming absolutely fear free and full of impeccability.

Not from outer signs, or outer strength, traits, accomplishments, acknowledgements, etc.

Yet from inner conviction, inner certainty, clarity, coherence, courage, intention, light and love.

Stripping away all that is not our divine nature to receive the full broadband of our divine birthright.

In prayer - asking with all of our heart and minds please God/dess please remove all that is not me.

The beauty of reality is all we have to do is be ourselves.

The better I feel, the more I realize I am becoming more of myself all of the time.

The more we become ourselves, the more we can shine and serve and beautify the cosmos.

So shine on you beautiful hearts, shine on!

Group evolution, integration and resilience...

The book "Developing Mind" is a complex, yet very readable book. I highly recommend to anyone who is interested in an integrated understanding of development of our personalities, emotional communication and human relationships = and the role that growth and complexity of the various components of the brain play in the process.

One big takeaway that I got is how patterns of interaction between attachment relationships with parents, caregivers in early life set patterns in motion based on chemical, neurological pathways in phases of brain development. That being said - the brain and emotional fabric of the personality continue to evolve over one's lifetime. Many in our society continue to believe that "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" or "that's just how so-and-so is" with respect to deeply rooted emotional patterns and challenging dynamics. To the contrary - the author points out that the mind, emotions and brain have plasticity throughout life giving new life and possibility in relationship and lifelong learning.

Furthermore - the current obsession with online social networking as a tool for interaction and group evolution are of great interest to me.

Along the lines of group interaction and evolution, the following quote really stood out for me:

"Functioning in a complex social network enhances people's capacity to survive as individuals, reproduce, and create a group of like-minded individuals who share such a capacity. This can be seend as a form of interindividual integration, in which an individual becomes a member of a community beyond the dyadic relationships of attachment and friendship. The potential for such a group to become a functionally cohesive system of individuals will enhance the chances of that group's surviving in competition with isolated humans or with groups that cannot process such social communication signals as well. Such shared mentalizing abilities permit the group to function as a cohesive system composed of connected individuals.

This allows for a "group state" to be achieved, which can facilitate the development of a highly effective problem-solving system to meet challenges in a world filled with competition. Being a member of a group in this way confers a sense of safety, security, and stability on an individual. A number of studies suggest complex relationships among early attachment history, experiences with teachers, relationships with friends, and social competence in peer groups. One of these studies has shown for example that peer acceptance and leadership abilities are associated with a history of secure attachments. Relationships, both early and later in life, clearly make a difference as our lives evolve. Overall, these findings support the notion that the individual continues to develop in interaction with an evolving set internal processes as well as social experiences within interpersonal and group relationships."

E.O. Wilson's book "Consilience" is also at the heart of the understandings from this book. I highly recommend both.

Uncertainty - again.

My friend Daniel Pinchbeck just wrote a "The Age of Uncertainty" for Common Ground Magazine.

Sovereign Integral...

The Institute of Noetic Sciences is working on a number of initiatives to help us become aware of human's ability to percieve reality beyond conventional thinking.

Near death account reveals the nature of the black holes and Matrix of Light

My friend Nicholas Harper sent me this interesting account of a man's near-death experience.

I found the account of Mellen-Thomas to be so interesting because many of his experiences aligned perfectly with my meditation experiences and the views of the nature of our world, and the cosmos around us.

In particular I found two key themes that are absolutely consistent with experiences I have had, and information that I have learned from healers, mystics and books.

One key theme is the way that the "Light" that he encountered helped him travel to other realms.

The light took him through the Sun, and then through the black hole at the center of the galaxy to travel to other realms.

This has been the same as my inner guidance and healing work has revealed.

I'll quote Mellen-Thomas, because his account is beautiful.

"I asked to see the rest of the Universe; beyond our solar system, beyond all human illusion. The Light then told me that I could go with the Stream. I did, and was carried Through the Light at the End of the Tunnel. I felt and heard a series of very soft sonic booms. What a rush!"

"Suddenly I seemed to be rocketing away from the planet on this stream of Life. I saw the earth fly away. The solar system, in all its splendor, whizzed by and disappeared. At faster than light speed, I flew through the center of the galaxy, absorbing more knowledge as I went. I learned that this galaxy, and all of the Universe, is bursting with many different varieties of LIFE. I saw many worlds. The good news is that we are not alone in this Universe!"

"As I rode this stream of consciousness through the center of the galaxy, the stream was expanding in awesome fractal waves of energy. The super clusters of galaxies with all their ancient wisdom flew by. At first I thought I was going somewhere; actually traveling. But then I realized that, as the stream was expanding, my own consciousness was also expanding to take in everything in the Universe! All creation passed by me. It was an unimaginable wonder! I truly was a Wonder Child; a babe in Wonderland!"

"At this point, I found myself in a profound stillness, beyond all silence. I could see or perceive FOREVER, beyond Infinity."

"I was in the Void."

"I was in pre-creation, before the Big Bang. I had crossed over the beginning of time/the First Word/the First vibration. I was in the Eye of Creation. I felt as if I was touching the Face of God. It was not a religious feeling. Simply I was at one with Absolute Life and Consciousness."


He discusses a little about the nature of black holes and the grid of light here:

"Do you know what is on the other side of a Black Hole? We are; our galaxy, which has been reprocessed from another Universe. In its total energy configuration, the galaxy looked like a fantastic city of lights. All energy this side of the Big Bang is light. Every sub atom, atom, star, planet, even consciousness itself is made of light and has a frequency and/or particle. Light is living stuff. Everything is made of light, even stones. So everything is alive. Everything is made from the Light of God; everything is very intelligent."

"As I rode the stream on and on, I could eventually see a huge Light coming. I knew it was the First Light; the higher Self Light Matrix of our solar system. Then the entire solar system appeared in the Light, accompanied by one of those velvet booms."

"I could see all the energy that this solar system generates, and it is an incredible light show! I could hear the Music of the Spheres. Our solar system, as do all celestial bodies, generates a unique matrix of light, sound and vibratory energies. Advanced civilizations from other star systems can spot life as we know it in the universe by the vibratory or energy matrix imprint. It is child’s play. The earth’s Wonder child (human beings) make an abundance of sound right now, like children playing in the backyard of the universe."


Another key theme is this "matrix of light" of our collective higher Self:

The first one is the "grid of light"

"We all have a higher Self, or an oversoul part of our being. It revealed itself to me in its truest energy form. The only way I can really describe it is that the being of the higher Self is more like a conduit. It did not look like that, but it is a direct connection to the Source that each and every one of us has. We are directly connected to the Source. So the Light was showing me the higher Self matrix. I was not committed to one particular religion. So that is what was being fed back to me during my life after death experience."

"As I asked the Light to keep clearing for me, to keep explaining, I understood what the higher Self matrix is. We have a grid around the planet where all the higher Selves are connected. This is like a great company, a next subtle level of energy around us, the spirit level, you might say. Then, after a couple of minutes, I asked for more clarification. I really wanted to know what the universe is about, and I was ready to go at that time. I said “I am ready, take me.”

"Then the Light turned into the most beautiful thing that I have ever seen: a mandala of human souls on this planet. Now I came to this with my negative view of what was happening on the planet. So as I asked the Light to keep clarifying for me, I saw in this magnificent mandala how beautiful we all are in our essence, our core. We are the most beautiful creations."

"The human soul, the human matrix that we all make together is absolutely fantastic, elegant, exotic, everything. I just cannot say enough about how it changed my opinion of human beings in that instant. I said, “Oh, God, I did not know how beautiful we are.” At any level, high or low, in whatever shape you are in, you are the most beautiful creation, you are."

"The revelations coming from the Light and seemed to go on and on, then I asked the Light, “Does this mean that Mankind will be saved?” Then, like a trumpet blast with a shower of spiraling lights, the Great Light spoke, saying, “Remember this and never forget; you save, redeem and heal yourself. You always have. You always will. You were created with the power to do so from before the beginning of the world.”"
