Perceiving our interactive relationship with the biosphere - a responsibility of humanity. And an opportunity for humanity through surfing coevolution.

I am particularly inspired by ideas that are born out of the recognition of the vast intelligence in all life on the planet which humanity is continually co-evolving with.

The  book "Botany of Desire - A Plant's-Eye View of the World" authored by Michael Pollan, and the movie based on the book, both point to the reality that there is much more intelligence embedded in the community of plants within which we live than most societies have ever imagined. Such thinking demonstrates the possibilities of the symbiotic relationship between plants and humans.

Gaia Herbs is a company which has moved far beyond this as a theory, they put these ideas into practice through the way that they cultivate and share the healing power of medicinal plants.

The Founder of Gaia Herbs Rick Scalzo wrote a free electronic book with Greg Cumberland called "Meetings and Awakenings - The Coevolution of Plants and People."

"Certain Species of hummingbirds have co-evolved bills for extracting nectar from flowers whose shape is uniquely suited to allow the hummingbird optimal access that assures the hummingbird departs with the plant's pollen and/or seeds. The same is true with certain milk thistles and butterflies with specially adapted mouthparts. The December 2009 National Geographic features and article showing in micrographic detail how individual pollen from flowering plants have adapted extensively and optimally to the morphologies of their animal carriers, the better to increase the odds of successful coupling between sperm and ovum. Many whole plant-extract phyto-chemistries, we will see, show significant bio-activity in animals in vivo, but purified or sythesized fractions of the same chemistries do not perform as well."

"But these relationships don not only happen over geologic time. They are happening right now in ways we can observe in cellular structures. As an explanatory framework, coherent coupling gets radical when we move to the cellular and genomic level -- where science is showing that the environment (via metabolism, among other exchanges), and even an organism's perception of the environment, can induce genetic adaptation and rewrite sections of DNA code. This moves us well beyond random mutation and natural selection guiding epigenesis. Int confers a far more profound evolutionary legacy and resilience on all species -- and perhaps uniquely to humanity, which is capable of perceiving and realizing our interactive nature in the biosphere. It also places a special responsibility on us to facilitate wellness and natural biodiversity among all species."

"Environmentally induced genetic change under coherent coupling means that sciences capable of characterizing genetic change due to metabolic interfacing can finally validate and authenticate why ancient nutritional protocols like the Okinawan or Mediterranean or Costa Rican diet and lifestyles tend to yield markedly higher longevity. Coherent coupling as an explanatory model can also move the medical sciences away from disease-driven single-vector investigations toward truly wellness-driven investigations explaining what appear to be the underlying genomic adaptations and adaptive proclivities that result in sustained vitality and greater longevity. Key to this whole framework is the notion that our DNA is some sense 'expects' to be perturbed by our environment and is able to "leap" adaptively when conditions are favorable -- like Atacama  desert flora waiting for centuries for rain."

"In this way, environment and organism and DNA are constantly shaping and transforming each other to mutual benefit or, at least, to potential benefit to the most adaptive organisms undergoing environmental perturbation. So how do we maximize adaptivity to perturbation in the system?"

"We believe our co-evolutionary history of coherent coupling with nutritional and therapeutic plants, through metabolizing phyto-chemistry, shows us the way.... It's not a one-way street."

To my fellow swimmers, remember your coherence amidst the chaos

If you're paying attention to what's going on around the planet, and don't have your head in the sand, you can see that things are rather chaotic in the human mind globally.

People have two reactions to such chaos - surf the chaos, or attempt to hold on to old identities during the transition.

It's not unlike a metamorphosis - there's a liminal state between caterpillar and butterfly where neither form is readily apparent.

How we steer our attention through such transitions is particularly important.

A recent post by Tom Kenyon on the matter is titled "The Emergence of Multiple Chaotic Nodes" wherein a number of insightful and helpful points are made for people interested in the evolution of consciousness at this time.

We're reminded to return to love, to the heart:

From our perspective, the threshold for an Initiate from the lower vibrational worlds into the upper worlds is, first and foremost, through the heart. This transit of consciousness is essentially an inner journey from the lower chakras to the higher chakras. It is only when an Initiate both transcends and transforms his or her personal fixation on security, sex and power that the upward spiral opens. And the entrance into this upward spiral of consciousness occurs when the heart chakra becomes energetically open and permeable.
The paradox and the difficulty is that you live in a dualistic universe, and virtually any action you take is met by a counter-force. This paradox and difficulty is like a metaphorical grain of sand in an oyster; it is irritating. But through the process of self-evolution, the irritation (i.e. duality) becomes a pearl, and paradoxically, something of value emerges from that which was problematic. But each Initiate must create this pearl of self-transformation for him or herself. No religion, no master, no teacher or guru can do it for you.
It may sound too simplistic but, in our experience, the greatest evolutionary catalyst, and the greatest vibratory field of safety to bridge transition states (such as the one you are collectively entering), is through the heart, your heart.

Reminds me of a well known Hopi Prayer I found many years ago

"There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift, that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water. And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate.
WE ARE THE ONES WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR." Oraibi, Arizona Hopi Nation Your Oneida brother
Simply - we are called to celebrate. Celebrate love, life, connectedness.

Stay grounded in your heart, your love, your supportive relationships, your connection to the Earth.

We are held in a field of love and blessing as we swim down the river of light of time space.

Contentment.

From a Taoist Scripture - via a friend's text message:

"Don't chase after people's approval.
Don't depend on your plans.
Don't make decisions;
let decisions make themselves.

Free yourself of concepts;
don't believe what you think.

Embody the inexhaustible.

Wander beyond all paths.

Receive what you have been given
and know that it is always enough.

The Master's mind is like a mirror:

It responds but does not store, contains nothing,
excludes nothing, and reflects things exactly as they are.

Thus she has what she wants and wants only what she has."

Poet training CEO's on the "Conversational Nature of Reality"

This poet is brought in to train and inspire CEO's to become more effective and connected to their stakeholders. The conversational nature of reality. Everything is talking with you. We live in a magnanimous reality and co-create a new beneficial reality for our world. It is one of "necessary disciplines" according to David....The world can change through "attentive presence" - the observer changes the world through the way that you look at the world. "Why not get with the program... and get out behind the wall you call 'you' and meet something other than yourself."

"Kosmic Alignment - Principal of Global Unity, The Ideosphere and its Transformation"

"Kosmic Alignment - Principal of Global Unity"  The Ideosphere and its Transformation
A must read article by Yasuhiko Genku Kimura  Here's an excerpt that stands out on the concept of what Kimura calls the "ideosphere."
"For the locus of thinking is within the individual. It is not the collective but the individual composing the collective that alone can think and generate ideas. The ideospheric transformation of the kind I speak is a synergetic phenomenon that emerges when individuals in sufficient numbers become authentic, independent thinkers, that is, originators of ideas, producers of dialogues, and contributors to the network of conversations that comprises the world."
"The configuration of the ideosphere throughout history has remained concentric with external authorities at the center surrounded by circles of believers and followers, where an authority did the thinking for its followers. Even today, in the scientifically and technologically advanced Western world, our educational system is, for the most part, designed to produce well informed, intellectually-adept, and professionally-marketable non-thinking adults. Thus the philosopher Martin Heidegger states: 'The most thought-provoking thing in this most thought provoking time is that we are still not thinking.' For, authentic thinking requires self authorship, which in turn requires authentic self-knowledge about which our education is utterly silent."
"In following the evolutionary thrust for optimization that is driving our collective transformation toward an unprecedented height of culture and civilization, the ideospheric configuration we require for the 21st century is omnicentric, having independent yet interconnected centers within the intellectually and spiritually sovereign individuals, living and working as self-authorities in the matter of thinking, knowing, and acting. Then, the thinking, knowing, and acting of these authentic individuals will synergetically co-develop throughout the omnicentric configuration of the evolving ideosphere. The Information Revolution that is underway with the omnipresent Internet is simultaneously the manifestation of, and the apparatus for, this new omnicentric configuration of the ideosphere."
"Thus, the transformation of the ideosphere does not mean the propagation of any particular set of ideas. Rather, it is the transformation of the configuration of the ideosphere itself from concentricity to omnicentricity in which every individual will engage in authentic, independent thinking in synergy with others."
"We human beings are at our best not when we are engaged in abstract solitary reflection or on our individual transformation for its own sake but when we are engaged together in the act of transforming the world. The act of idea-generation through authentic thinking and the sustained engagement in the conversation of humankind, if conducted in the context of pursuit of truth, beauty, and goodness, will lead to powerful moral action that will engender a New World. To engage in such moral action and to become a co-creator of a New World is to become a world-weaver in the act of weaving the world and a history-maker in the act of making history."
"There is no complete individual transformation apart from real world transformation. For the individual is the whole world; for the individual is the whole of humanity."

Our generation's task.....

‎"Our task is to live in touch with the flow of nature.
Recognizing our innate sufficiency, fullness, abundance, intimacy with all things,
intimacy with all life.
An intimacy which enables us to focus on maximizing relationships,
and build an economy of reciprocal blessing
built on beauty, art, kindness and symbiosis."

"Mary Magdalene's Dreaming - A Comparison of Aboriginal Wisdom and Gnostic Scripture"

A book I just heard about "Mary Magdalene's Dreaming - A Comparison of Aboriginal Wisdom and Gnostic Scripture" born out recognizing the similarities to Aboriginal Elder Visionary Dreaming & the Revelations of Mary Magdalene described in the Nag Hammadi scriptures, looking forward to reading. My first thought is Aboriginal mystical traditions - thought to be over 50,000 yrs & developed independently from the rest of the world - have arrived at similar evolved ways of navigating reality as Gnostics in Old World - mainly because these esoteric toolsets are HARD WIRED into our human being bodymind system...worthy of checking out.

Daily Mental Discipline

"I am the offspring of the divine nature of the universe.
Through the positive, creative and constructive
nature of the universe I have been given life.
May pure, positive energy display itself
in my nature and my daily life.
May only the highest energy manifest
in my speech and my behavior.
May I demonstrate the benevolence of universal nature
in my relationships with my fellow men and women.
May pure, positive energy
be the only reality of my being.
May my spirit and mind reflect
the sublime harmony and order of the universe,
and my body be a workshop of the subtle origin.
When I have a meal
may pure, positive energy nourish me.
When I sleep, may a peaceful nature refresh me.
When I work,
may the expression of divine nature be my task.
When I conduct my life,
may universal nature be my only way." - Hua-Ching Ni

Birth of New Planetery Consciousness

"The Birth of a New Planetary Consciousness” an excerpt from "Consciousness in Action" book quoting Joanna Macy

“It could well be that our work now is to grow a new planetary consciousness. Carl Jung said there’s no birth of consciousness without pain. We are discovering that we are the sensory organs of our living planet, and that discovery involves pain. All of a sudden we realize that we care, that our hearts are breaking over people who aren’t even born yet. This is truly a noble thing. Over twenty years of doing this work I have found that people would rather hurt and feel connected than be anesthetized and feel isolated. “
“In terms of living systems theory, at every level of life’s self-organizing there is subjectivity. The brains of higher mammals – at our own level of subjectivity and consciousness – are the most complex objects in the known universe: one hundred billion neurons, all highly differentiated, with trillions of synaptic connections. This internal complexity evolved thanks to choice-making. This is still where we make conscious choices – right here between our ears – separately. But given our current global crisis, individual decision-making may be too isolated and too slow to stop the destruction. What could save us is if we start thinking and intending together – as interconnected whole. And fortunately, this is beginning to happen.”
“It’s as if we’re neurons in a big brain, which is itself starting to think. It’s like we’re being ‘thought through.’ I think that people are having that experience where they finish each other’s sentences or come up with the same ideas. We tend to refer to clairvoyant experiences in terms of the occult, like channeling, as if it’s somebody “out there” who’s channeling through me. But from the systems perspective we don’t need that kind of explanation. It's all emerging synergistically from our interactions.”
“This ‘mind sharing’ is, I believe, a natural function of our experiencing a common danger to our survival. The danger is not simply to Joanna or to Andrew or to John but to the whole Earth community. We are capable now of identifying with the planet as a whole. We start by identifying with families and countries, and then with humans as a species, then we move right out and identify with other species. I see this happening with people from all walks of life, regardless of location and background."

Order and Coherence...

"There is a sequence and harmony that emerges from the vast unity in nature. So much diversity yet so much underlying harmony to connect these diverse elements of nature. In this field of infinite correlation we are connected at the core. Our work with plants reminds us of the importance of nourishing the stillness that connects us all."

This is an excerpt from "Meetings & Awakenings - the Coevolution of Plants and People" a book by Ric Scalzo and Greg Cumberford

More from the Mayan elders on 2012

"We are disturbed -- we can't play anymore. Our planet can be renewed or ravaged. Now is the time to awaken and take action. Everyone is needed. You are not here for no reason. Everyone who is here now has an important purpose. This is a hard, but a special, time. We have the opportunity for growth, but we must be ready for this moment in history. Humanity will continue, but in a different way. . . . We are living in the most important era of the Mayan calendars and prophecies. All the prophecies of the world, all the traditions, are converging now. There is no time for games. The spiritual ideal of this era is action. . . . The greatest wisdom is in simplicity. Love, respect, tolerance, sharing, gratitude, forgiveness. It's not complex or elaborate. The real knowledge is free. It's encoded in your DNA. All you need is within you. Great teachers have said that from the beginning. Find your heart, and you will find your way.

Words from the Mayan Elders about this time, and their views on "2012"

Regardless of any of our interpretations of 2012, what it means, what it doesn't mean, what it is, what it is not - all these are simply interpretations. To add some perspective, it is valuable to consider the points of view of the culture which speaks of this time as being significant. A recent article shares the points of view of the Mayan Elders.

I find much of what they say to be advice from a timeless perspective, and of value regardless of the epoch or context which they are saying it.

Here is one excerpt which stood out to me:

"Meditation and spiritual practice are good, but also action. It's very important to be clear about who you are, and also about your relation to the Earth. Develop yourself according to your own tradition and the call of your heart. But remember to respect differences, and strive for unity. Eat wisely --- a lot of food is corrupt in either subtle or gross ways. Pay attention to what you are taking into your body. Learn to preserve food, and to conserve energy. Learn some good breathing techniques, so you have mastery of your breath. Be clear. Follow a tradition with great roots. It is not important what tradition, your heart will tell you, but it must have great roots."
"We live in a world of energy. An important task at this time is to learn to sense or see the energy of everyone and everything -- people, plants, animals. This becomes increasingly important as we draw close to the World of the Fifth Sun, for it is associated with the element 'ether' -- the realm where energy lives and weaves. Go to the sacred places of the Earth to pray for peace, and have respect for the Earth which gives us our food, clothing, and shelter. We need to reactivate the energy of these sacred places. That is our work."

The inner eye sees.

"The light that sparks into being when the eyes blink
is witnessed by the single eye between the brows.
That eye is the place where the elements merge -
all the elements of your being."

"Consider how lightly the eyelids touch the eyes
with each blink.
That lightly, place the fingers over the eyelids,
and become aware of the space between these two exquisite centers of seeing.
There is the singular eye, which sees into a different world."

"With this eye, you can see very well
by the light of the inner fire.
The fire that is always flowing up the channel,
the medial channel of the spine.
Enter the core of any spark of that fire. "

"Be rooted in your heart, connect even to the tips of your hairs,
and attend the birthing of the light within you."

The Luminous Space of the Heart

The whole goal of living is to become aware of our infinite heart-connection with all reality, the field of all beauty, awareness and conscious intelligence that has created you and of all the cosmos. To discover that you are NOT ONLY connected to the creative intelligence that dreamed the cosmos, but that YOU ARE the same creative intelligence that dreamed the cosmos. In the same way that a seed contains the tree.

‎"Wherever your mind wanders,
Wherever you journey,
Return to savoring
The Luminous Space of the heart!

Again and again return to
Where the breaths meet, fuse
and transform into each other.

Rest the attention in your blessed core
As you practice this, and continually be reborn into
The thrill of a new world."

- Vijnana Bhairava Verse 28 in "The Radiance Sutras"

Mastering the Flow of Soul Currency

"Love and forgiveness for both yourself and others is the pre-requisite for fulfilled living and prosperity. You are constantly in the flow of energy. Any thoughts of fear, resentment, anger, vengefulness, or unworthiness repel the very energy that circulate goodness. In the presence of such thoughts, the energy of creative flow takes a detour and moves around you instead of through you. The person who exemplifies being outside the flow of soul currency is one who always has many possibilities but sees few if any come through. Or this person may be one who feels stuck in a situation or faces constant delays."
"We are the vehicles through which soul currency operates and we are its very essence. Through our choices and intentions — our enterprises — we join with this energy in the infinite continuum that flows throughout all eternity, returning to the source. The key to becoming a master of the material world is to become aware of how the energy of creation simultaneously flows through us and is us."

"Being a master of soul currency means that you have mastered the ability to listen to the spiritual side of yourself that is your connection to the Divine. (No, this doesn't necessarily mean that God will tell you to quit your job, move to a remote region of the country and start an animal rights project, although if you would love to do these things you certainly are free to choose them.) Spirit gives you choices, including the choice to be happy, prosperous, and fulfilled doing what you already love in your daily life. You can learn to live in the flow of soul currency." - Ernest Chu from Soul Currency

Leadership empathy...

"The world is in desperate need of leadership that identifies common ground and is effective at communicating the benefits of acting on the common ground ideas to the point where it actually happens.
The level of empathy required to do this is only possible if the leader(s) has accepted all the conflicting ideas and emotions of the stake holders within him/her self.
Part of the required self acceptance necessary to be effective at this is includes simultaneously being at peace with our self and accepting both the need and capacity we have to bring greater acceptance of our unity to society." Scott Friedman

The beginning of immortality...

"Intellectual knowledge exists in and of the brain.
Because the brain is part of the body, which must one
day expire, this collection of facts, however large
and impressive, will expire as well.
Insight, however, is a function of the spirit.
Because your spirit follows you through cycle after
cycle of life, death, and rebirth, you have the
opportunity of cultivating insight in an ongoing fashion.
Refined over time, insight becomes pure, constant,
and unwavering.
This is the beginning of immortality."

Saudi Government sponsored business conference to discsuss "Learning From Outer Space" and UFO's

I learned that Global Competitiveness Forum hosted by the Saudi Arabian Government - as "An annual program of activities attended by global business leaders, international political leaders, and selected intellectuals who share a common interest in competitiveness."

The forum is hosting a session called "Learning from Outer Space"

Of greatest interest is the description of the session.

"Psychological and socio-cultural assumptions and preconceptions constrain us to a large extent, and shape our views of the universe so that we are inclined to find what we are looking for, and fail to see what we are not. Using knowledge gained from research in the fields of Ufology and the search for extraterrestrial life, what might we possibly learn about hindrances to innovation in other areas of inquiry?"

Indeed there are many unexamined assumptions which need revisiting to arrive at a sustainable civilization.

Relax now....

Ponder the possibility of this as a message from your evolved, integrated State of Loving Presence:

"You can relax now
Come on and open your eyes
Breathe deeply now
I am with you.
Oh my sweet sweet child
Who do you think you are
You are the child of God
And that will never change."

"You had a dream
You misunderstood
You thought we were separate
But now you hear my voice and
You can relax now
C’mon and open your eyes
And breathe deeply now
I am with you.
You are the love of my life
You are my one creation
You are eternity
And that will never change."

"You had a dream
You misunderstood
You thought we were separate
But now please hear my voice and
You can relax now
Cmon and open your eyes
And breathe deeply now
I am with you.
Oh my sweet sweet child
Who do you think you are
You are the child of God
That will never change."

"You are what you are.
You are eternity.
You are divinity.
That can never change.
That has never changed.
Just a dream…open your eyes and breathe.
You are eternity.
You are divinity.
You can relax now…you can.
You are a child of God.
Open your eyes and breathe
You can relax…"
